Tudor watches were made by Rolex for many
years. In fact, Tudors were made from genuine Rolex parts (cases, bracelets,
crowns, etc.) except the movements, which were typically ETA ebauches. Not
surprisingly, such Tudors are highly collectable and thankfully widely
available. Today, there is still a Rolex - Tudor connection, but for better or
worse, the Tudor model line is beginning to migrate away from being Rolex
clones. The Tudor Tiger chronograph is endorsed by Tiger Woods, and Tudor seems
to be emerging with its own brand identity. Still very nice watches, but with
less of a Rolex influence.
Both the Tiger Woods Chronograph and the Submariner models feature the Oyster
case which provides exceptional protection to the movement. Oysters are sculpted
from a single block of metal and the cases are individually matched with a
winding crown and case back that are machine-threaded to form a virtually
indestructible unit. Each crystal fits perfectly and offers superb protection
and clarity. The Oyster case is, in effect, a flawless suit of armor which
affords each timepiece superb toughness and reliability - ideal for those who
require a watch that can withstand an active lifestyle.
The Tiger Woods Chronographs are primarily stainless steel, water-resistant
gentlemen's wristwatches with round button chronograph functions, registers,
tachometer and date window, and feature high quality mechanical movements with
automatic winding. Watch cases are polished and satined and have an eye-catching
black bezel with tachometer graduation. Dials are offered in a variety of colors
with Arabic numerals and auxiliary dials for the seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hour
registers. A variety of stitched leather straps with stainless steel deployment
clasp and elegant metal link bracelets are also available.
